In prayer, in conversation, in self reflection, the candle subtly changes its expression in response, in feather like gentleness and ethereal warmth. The flame emanates an emotion not possible with electrical lights in our daily lives. “From Monologue to dialogue” is a principle theme at Daiyo, as we constantly contemplate the innate powers of the light of a candle flame, and how human relations are derived and created from it.     Our “Rice Bran Candle series” burn for a long time (1.8 times longer than the average candle) and do not produce any smell. Hence, they serve as your best companions at dining tables as you indulge in precious family time or meals with your guests.

    Our “Rice Bran Block Candles” are perfect in your bathrooms as they do not require any candle stands. Two or three candles are sufficient to brighten up the bathroom. Unwind and pamper yourself soaking in a warm bath with our candles.

ABOUT DAIYO

Daiyo was established in the Takashima county of Shiga Prefecture in 1914. The artisanship has been passed down across four generations, polished and refined as time passes. Shiga prefecture is home to Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan, and an abundance of natural resources. Consequently, Shiga has accumulated a wealth of knowledge on the coexistence of man and nature. Daiyo’s Japanese candles are 100% made from natural plant wax. Our principles of making candles from the blessings of nature have remained unchanged since our establishment more than a century ago.

ABOUT JAPANESE CANDLES

At Daiyo, utilizing 100% local and natural plant wax, our artisans meticulously craft our candles by hand. By using a sustainable resource, our Japanese candles made for home-use do not produce smoke nor does the melted wax flow out of the candle. Our candles are practically odorless too. Environmental-friendliness is the greatest feature of Daiyo’s Japanese candles.

    Designed by YAMAZAKI Yoshiki, this is a wick trimmer made of brass and solid SAKURA (Japanese cherry) wood.
    The handle is wooden, making it less heat-conductive - a good, comfy feature for the user.
    When placed, the wooden handle sits horizontally, making the tip of the trimmer tilted upward. It is therefore designed not to stain the table with soot.
    One can trim the wick without feeling much heat as the grip is situated away from the tip of the trimmer.
